Die magnetische Streuflussprüfung (MFL) ist ein Rohrprüfverfahren, das vor allem für die schnelle Prüfung ferromagnetischer Rohre mit um diese gewickelten, nicht ferromagnetischen Waben – wie bei Luftkühlern – entwickelt wurde.
Zwei starke Magnete erzeugen ein statisches Magnetfeld, das die Rohrwand auflädt (Abb. 1 ). Befindet sich ein Fehler (Lochkorrosion, Wanddickenabnahme usw.) zwischen den beiden Magneten, so wird der Magnetfluss in der Rohrwand gestört und eine geringe Flussmenge wird in das Innenrohr gestreut. Dieser Streufluss wird von den Spulen festgestellt, die zwischen den Magneten positioniert sind.
Die Schwankung des Streuflusses induziert Strom in die Spulen und verursacht so eine Signalausgabe. Diese Signalausgabe kann verwendet werden, um Informationen über jede Wanddickenabnahme im Rohr zu liefern. Der magnetische Streufluss (MFL) wird vor allem bei der Inspektion von Luftkühlern angewandt, kann aber auch für die Inspektion von Glattrohren mit einem Durchmesser ab einem Zoll (2,5 cm) verwendet werden.
