Fire resistance testing

Evaluate the strength, stability and fire insulation of products and materials

In the event of a fire in buildings, vehicles or means of transportation, the fire resistance time of the materials and products is the most critical variable and has a direct influence on the occupants' safety.

Fire-resistant products should allow the structures to retain their minimum functions during the time required to evacuate the people, even despite the extreme conditions of heat and pressure to which they are subjected. Manufacturers of these products, must evaluate their resistance, stability and fire insulation according to the applicable regulation.

Our Solution

Applus+ Laboratories offers a fire resistance testing service with accredited and recognized laboratories (IMO VKF-AEAI, ELOT, among others) that are Europe's leaders in annual volume of tests and equipment.

Applus+ Laboratories is Notified Body No. 370 for the Construction Products Directive and for all products that have requirements for fire resistance and reaction.

Our service includes:

  • Comprehensive management and execution of the testing plan
  • Fire resistance simulation
  • Test tooling design and manufacture
  • On-line test visualization
  • Data post-processing and test report iss
  • Consulting for product improvement
  • Range extension studies (evaluation of the behavior of other untested components)
  • Training for technicians
  • Managing the certifications for innovative construction products: ETA, EAD, CE Marking, among others.

We perform tests under the international standards applicable to various sectors: ISO, IMO, ASTM, UL, CEN, NF, UNE, IEC and ASTM. We carry out tests for the following products, among others:
