Applus RTD showcases latest innovative technology at 10th Pipeline Technology Conference

15/01/2015

From 8-10 June 2015 the 10th Pipeline Technology Conference (ptc) will take place in Berlin, Germany. Since 2006, the main focus of the Pipeline Technology Conference (ptc) is on latest technologies and new developments in the international onshore and offshore pipeline industry. Besides an overview on international key projects, new construction methods, and an insight into new operation & maintenance, rehabilitation, in-line inspection and integrity management field studies and technologies, ptc 2015 will provide special focus sessions on “Pipeline Safety”, “Challenging Pipelines” and “Offshore Technologies”.

The practical nature of Pipeline Technology Conference was always based on the cooperation with technical and scientific supporters and on a top-class international advisory committee. The conference will feature lectures and presentations on all aspects surrounding oil, gas and product pipeline systems.

Applus RTD will showcase its latest innovative technology the RTD DTI Trekscan at the 10th Pipeline Technology Conference.

The RTD DTI Trekscan is the first free-floating inspection tool designed to traverse back-to-back one-dimensional (1D) bends, with an optimum speed of one meter per second (2.2 mph). It can run in pipelines previously considered to be ‘unpiggable’. The bi-directional tool measures the return echoes of a transmitted ultrasound beam. The amount of time it takes to receive an echo provides highly accurate information on the remaining wall and enables detection and sizing of metal loss anomalies.

The standard configuration of RTD DTI Trekscan comes in 6” and 8” sizes. It is also extremely lightweight – 15 kilograms (33 lbs)– and its maximum operating temperature is 40 °C (104 °F).

The report from this new system provides operators with ranked and screened ultrasonic survey data that will assist them with maintenance planning for the examined pipeline segments.
