Applus+ Laboratories supports Linaro to improve the security of OP-TEE

12/01/2017

Applus+ is one of the few laboratories accredited by GlobalPlatform to conduct TEE security evaluations.

Applus+ Laboratories is working together with Linaro as a security advisor in order to strengthen the security of OP-TEE, the open source Trusted Execution Environment developed by Linaro. Applus+ is one of the few laboratories accredited by GlobalPlatform to conduct TEE security evaluations.

To achieve the necessary know-how about TEE security, Applus+ conducted several R&D projects in 2015 and 2016 to test TEE security using OP-TEE. Applus+ is now helping Linaro to improve OP-TEE security features and enhance its protection measures against advanced penetration techniques.

    About OP-TEE and Linaro

Linaro is the place where engineers from the world’s leading technology companies define the future of open source on ARM. The company is an engineering organization with over 300 engineers working on consolidating and optimizing open source software for the ARM architecture, including developer tools, the Linux kernel, ARM power management, and other software infrastructure. Linaro is distribution neutral: it wants to provide the best software foundations to everyone by working upstream, and to reduce non-differentiating and costly low level fragmentation.

OP-TEE is a GlobalPlatform based Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) which started out as a proprietary project at ST-Ericsson/STMicroelectronics and later on was released as an open source project. Today the project is hosted at GitHub and it is actively developed and maintained by Linaro. OP-TEE as such has officially been ported to run on twenty devices from different manufacturers.
